Keyword cannibalisation is when your website unintentionally targets the same keyword across multiple posts or pages. For large or complex websites, it’s not uncommon for keyword rankings to behave in this way. Positions can drop, switch, and hop between pages overnight.
This frequently occurs when Google struggles to identify the most relevant page for a query, or when multiple pages overlap or compete with each other for a specific topic. Your rankings fluctuate, your content underperforms, and often you don’t even know that it’s happening.
But with the SEO tool you can! The platform allows you to see all the pages which rank (and have ranked, over time) for given keywords. You just need to click on the ℹ️ on the left of your keyword.
Once you have clicked on this icon, it will show you all of the pages that rank and used to rank for the given keyword as you can see in the image below.
You can then make informed decisions on which strategies to deploy, and focus on where you need to consolidate value to improve performance.
