The Online Store makes it easy to sell and manage your digital products such as software, audio, and video files (mp3s), e-books, graphics, or anything that is delivered to customers by download. Customers can add digital products to their carts and pay for them the same way that they would pay for a tangible product. Once their order has been processed, they receive an email notification with the download link for their purchase.
Adding digital products
- Click Catalog > Products.
- Click an existing product to edit it, or click +Add New Product to create a new one.
- Open the Files tab.
- Click Upload Files.
- When you are finished, click Save.
The files will be available for the customer only after they have completed the purchase process, and they will receive an email with the download link they can visit to access their file/s.
You can also protect your download links, to prevent your files from being shared without having first been purchased. To do this, you can limit the link lifetime and the number of downloads customers can make.
There are two options available to you:
- Link lifetime, in hours (e.g., the link is available for 24 hours only, but your customer is allowed an unlimited number of downloads).
- The number of downloads (e.g., the link is available without any time limits, but it can only be downloaded five times).
Setting download protection
- Click Settings > General.
- Click the Cart & Checkout link.
- Scroll down to the E-goods section.
- Enter your Link lifetime hours and Number of download attempts values.
- Click Save.
Another handy feature is that, when needed, you can manually regenerate any download link or expire it on the Order details page of the necessary order.
To regenerate the download link:
- In the Online Store dashboard, go to My Sales > Orders.
- Click the See Details button on the order you want to review.
- Scroll down until you see the "Download Section".
- Click the "Re-generate" link.
After regeneration, a new link will be generated and sent to the customer, so they will be able to download the file again.
To expire the download link:
- In the Online Store dashboard, go to My Sales > Orders.
- Click the See Details button on the order you want to review.
- Scroll down until you see the Download section.
- Click the Force link expiration link.
After forced expiration, the link will become unavailable immediately.
