Does this sound familiar? Your website has page after page of beautifully written content, which focuses on the correct keywords, aligns with the proper User Intent, has the relevant structured data to target Universal Results such as Snippets, yet the URL fails to rank well.
Why? Well, did you know that Google might not even be able to understand or pick up on your page, if it is missing key meta data?
Well optimized meta data such as title tags and description sits behind your page, and directly impacts rankings and CTR. The Content 360 module in the SEO tool allows you to identify and understand many aspects of your On-Page SEO performance, including factors like meta data.
This tool provides a page-by-page breakdown of your website, giving insights into multiple areas, including engagement metrics, keyword performance, backlinks and more! It’s far too much to cover all in one go, so expect future TOTW to go into more detail!
For now, to find URLs that require meta data optimization, just click on the blue plus icon that appears towards the top of the tool. From here, you can select Pages to see the issues by category:
For example, choosing ‘Missing Descriptions’ will return 8 pages where this problem applies. Knowing what pages are affected allows you to implement a fix, in this case by adding a meta description to the URL, which should then go onto be picked up by Google the next time it crawls your site.
You can run crawls for multiple sites in Content 360, including any competitors, allowing you to analyze different meta data structures, discover what works well and therefore what could be adopted into your approach.
